  • For Solo Piano categories:

    • First Prize winners: Cash Prize S$400 + Trophy + Certificate of Award

    • Second Prize winners : Cash Prize S$100 + Trophy + Certificate of Award

    • Third Prize winners : Trophy + Certificate of Award

  • For Junior Artiste category:

    • First Prize winner: Cash Prize S$1000 + Trophy + Certificate of Award + Opportunity to perform with an Orchestra

    • Second & Third Prize winners : Trophy + Certificate of Award

  • For Advanced Artiste category:

    • First Prize winner: Cash Prize S$2000 + Trophy + Certificate of Award + Opportunity to perform with an Orchestra

    • Second & Third Prize winners : Trophy + Certificate of Award

  • In the case that awards are not collected within 6 months of release of results, the prize money will be donated to a selected non-profit organisation.

  • Teachers who have two or more students selected as Prize Winners will receive an electronic Certificate of Recognition.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

Eligibility

Le Magnifique Music Competition (the “Competition”) is an annual competition organized by Le Magnifique Group Pte Ltd (the “Organiser”) to provide a platform for young musicians to showcase their range of musical talents and develop their stage presence. 

This competition is open to all residents in Singapore.

  1. Age is calculated as of 1st January 2022. Contestants must be within the applicable age range for the Category that they are registered. An incorrectly-entered Category may result in a disqualification.

  2. Any Contestant studying under the guidance of the Judges must notify Le Magnifique at the time of Registration and will be evaluated by different Judges.

  3. By submitting an entry in this Competition, Contestants agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  4. The Organiser may verify the validity of entries and may disqualify any Contestant for any reason at the Organiser’s sole discretion. An entry which does not comply with these terms and conditions is invalid. Any incomplete, indecipherable, or illegible entries will be deemed invalid.

  5. It is the Contestant’s responsibility to ensure that the URL of their video recording submitted in respect of each category is complete and playable. The Organiser is not responsible for damaged entries.

  6. The Contestant, and all other relevant copyright owners, will retain any copyright they hold at the time of submission, and all other rights controlled by the Contestant or other rights holders in any Video Recording entered in the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt, no copyright in any performance or any Video Recording of the performance entered will be assigned to the Organiser by virtue of entering this Competition.

  7. The Contestant, herein, grants the Organiser all rights necessary for the Organiser to use the performance and the Video Recording of the performance for the purposes of the Competition.

  8. Subject to (7) and (8), all entry materials submitted (including entry forms and Video Recordings) become the property of the Organiser on receipt and will not be returned to the Contestant. Copies of entry materials may be retained by the Organiser for promotional purposes in accordance with these terms and conditions.

  9. Contestants are only limited to one (1) entry per category.

Video Submissions

Video Recording Requirements

  1. Recording Device

    • device allows 1080p recording

    • device must be stationary

  2. Video recordings must be recorded on or after 01 January 2022.

  3. Contestants who fail to submit their videos before the video submission deadline will be disqualified.

  4. Professional recordings are not required. Judges will assess the merit of the performance, not the quality of the submitted video.

  5. The recordings should be taken from side angle to capture the contestant's entire head to toe profile, with full visibility of contestant’s face, fingers and feet.

  6. Contestants must upload their audition to YouTube, Vimeo, or any other hosted video service and set to PUBLIC on these hosted video services, which enables it to be watched without downloading. It is the responsibility of the Contestant to ensure that the video link is working and video can be played. Failure to provide a working link could lead to disqualification. Applicants must submit their video audition URL in the application form.

  7. Full programme should be recorded in one continuous take with no editing. Any editing of the video will result in disqualification from the competition.

  8. Duration of performance is measured from when the first piece starts to when the second piece ends. This includes intervals between pieces.

  9. Do not introduce yourself or announce the name of the piece at the beginning of the video.

  10. Acoustic pianos must be used. Electronic keyboard recordings will not be accepted.

  11. Contestants who are not performing from memory must use officially published music scores. No photocopies are allowed.

  12. Contestants are to observe Da Capo and Dal Segno repeats. All other repeats are not required.

  13. Contestants are expected to be in appropriate attire for the video submission.

  14. Please adhere to the following labeling format during video submission:

Results for Qualifiers will be published on the competition website. 


Semi-finals Studio Recording

  1. Successful Contestants will be informed of the date & time to report in person to the live recording studio for Semi-Finals. The date & time given will be grouped by category and determined by ballot.

  2. Contestants cannot change the order determined by the ballot.

  3. Contestants will have only one take to perform their piece(s).

  4. Contestants who advance to Semi-Finals in more than one category will be given provision to record piece(s) for both categories on the same day.

  5. Upon completion of Semi-finals round, Contestants will receive a Professionally produced Video Recording.

Results for Semi-Finals will be published on the competition website. 

Successful contestants will be informed of the time to report in person to the Finals venue.


Contestant Etiquette

  1. Contestants and/or their accompanists who are absent during their scheduled time may be disqualified.

  2. Contestants who exceed the time limit will have points deducted.

  3. Formal attire is expected for the Semi-finals and Finals rounds.

Audience Etiquette

  1. For Semi-Finals and Finals, Contestants are allowed up to one accompanying person each. Additional tickets for Finals will be available for purchase, subjected to availability on a first come first serve basis.

  2. Audience seating and entry is subject to change according to COVID-19’s regulations.

  3. Flash photography by Contestants and audience is strictly prohibited, to avoid interfering with performances and/or evaluation.

Upon completion of Semi-finals round, Contestants will receive a Professionally produced Video Recording.

Fees are inclusive of an event ticket for one accompanying person, subjected to Safe Management Measures for MICE Events at that period of time. The Organiser reserves the right to conduct the Finals via Online Video setting such as Zoom.   

For Contestants who are not able to attend Semi-Finals and Finals due to medical reasons, please approach the Organiser for alternative arrangements.

Payment Method

  • Credit Card / PayPal / Apple Pay payments are accepted during check out. All transactions are SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protected. Your information is securely transmitted during the processing of all payments.

Scores and Auxiliary Pedals and Footstools

Scores

  1. Contestants who are not performing from memory must use officially published music scores. No photocopies are allowed.

  2. Contestants have to submit a PDF version of their scores prior to each round to be used by Judges.

  3. Contestants are to observe Da Capo and Dal Segno repeats. All other repeats are not required.

  4. Contestants should strictly adhere to the time limit of their respective category to avoid marks deduction.

  5. The duration is measured from when the first piece starts to when the last piece ends. This includes intervals between pieces but does not include the time taken to enter and exit, the time to install and remove auxiliary pedals and footstools, etc.

Auxiliary Pedals/Footstools

  1. The Organiser will prepare one auxiliary pedal and footstool for the Semi-finals and Finals, but installation and removal must be conducted by the Contestant or an accompanying person.

  2. The position and height of stools may be adjusted by the Contestant or an accompanying person.

Piano Accompanists

  1. All Contestants in the Artiste categories are expected to have their own accompanist at their own cost.

  2. Enquiries about hiring a piano accompanist can be made with the organiser at hello@lemagnifique.co. Prices upon application.

  3. In the event that an accompanist fails to turn up due to medical reasons, Contestants will be allowed to perform unaccompanied upon submitting proof of absence.

Rehearsal Space

  • Enquiries about booking a rehearsal session at the live recording location can be made with the organiser at hello@lemagnifique.co.

Judging

  • The decision of the judges is final and cannot be appealed.

Miscellaneous

  1. The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or combine any competition round and category if there are insufficient Contestants. In the event of any cancellation, the fees for the round will be fully refunded.

  2. The Organiser requires the collection of personal data from Contestants. This information is solely used to verify the Contestants’s eligibility to take part in the competition and for all correspondence and activities regarding the competition.

  3. The Organiser reserves the right to record all or part of the proceedings of the competition and related activities for broadcast and promotional purposes without any payment to the Contestants.

  4. The Organiser retains all rights to the recorded materials. Prize winners may be invited to perform in public, on broadcast media and/or attend interviews related to the competition.

  5. The Organiser reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time.
